Five Year Dual Degree Programme

A new 5-year Dual Degree programme (B.Tech in Civil Engineering and MS by Research in BSE), has been conceived at IIIT-H as an outcome of a well experimented and thought-out academic endeavor to create well-qualified, trained manpower and researchers in this emerging area.

It is time to build over the research carried out at the institute in these domains in combination with the research strength in related areas of Electronics and Communications and Computer Science. This unique combination of technology, science and applied research at this Institute is one of its key salient features and this positions it well for launching and furthering the research program in Building Science and Engineering.

The 5-year programme has four stages :

Covering the basic sciences, core engineering and computational technologies
Integrative and cutting-across courses designed keeping in view of the need to address emerging challenges through inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approach
Opportunity for students to specialize in a Research stream with supporting courses in related streams
A Research component leading to a Masters’ thesis. All the courses are based on the central philosophy of the Institute, IIIT-H – the model of “Practice-Theory-Practice”, which provides as much emphasis on practice as on theoretical aspects.
