Curriculum:
The 5-year Dual Degree programme (B.Tech and MS by Research) in Building Science and Engineering aims to provide a holistic approach to understand buildings, its surroundings and its interaction with the environment, keeping the focus on the occupants need, comfort and functional aspects. It is designed by drawing inputs from core engineering, building physics, building typology, building safety, building intelligence and building sustainability.
The 5-year program has four stages (i) Covering the basic sciences, core engineering and computational technologies; (ii) Integrative and cutting-across courses designed keeping in view of the need to address emerging challenges through inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approach; (iii) opportunity for students to specialize in a Research Stream with supporting courses in related streams; (iv) a Research component leading to a Masters thesis. All the courses are based on the central philosophy of the Institute, IIIT-H the model of Practice-Theory-Practice, which provides as much emphasis on practice as on theoretical aspects.
